The year 2020 has snatched another veteran actor of Hindi cinema from us. Legendary actor Jagdeep said goodbye to this world on 8 May. Jagdeep spent nearly his sixty years working with several generations of artists. Along with Amitabh Bachchan, he shared screen space in some of Hindi cinema’s best movies. Big B paid tribute to Jagdeep by remembering him in his blog.
Amitabh Bachchan wrote – Last night we lost another Nagina. Jagdeep… possesses amazing abilities in comedy, passed away. He had a unique style of acting. I had the honor of working with him in many films. Prominent among the audience are Sholay and Shahenshah. Amitabh further writes that he was a humble personality who got the love of millions. My prayers and prayers for him.
Jagdeep’s real name was Syed Ishtiaq Jaffrey. Amitabh Bachchan also made a guest appearance in Jagdeep’s directorial film Surma Bhopami in 1988. Jagdeep died on July 8 at the age of 81. He was released on 9 July. Jagdeep did more than 400 films in his career. He started his career as a child artist with BR Chopra’s film Afsana. These include films such as Do Bigha Zamin, R Par, Toy and Teen Bahuraniyaan.
Jagdeep is considered to be the last in the tradition of cinema’s comic icons, after Johnny Walker and Mahmood. Jagdeep also played excellent roles in films like Andaz Apna, even in the nineties.
