Congress president may be final CWC

New Delhi: Long-standing suspense over the name of the Congress (Congress) president is expected to end at 9 pm on Saturday. After Rahul Gandhi’s resignation as the Congress President in May, the party is doing a lot of work to elect a new president. On this, a meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) was also held at the party headquarters today. According to the Congress senior, the name of the next party president was discussed in the meeting. However, no leader’s name has been announced. The CWC (Congress Working Committee) will meet again today at 8.30 pm and can announce the new head of the Congress by 9 pm.

Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that after the meeting was over, the CWC asked Rahul Gandhi to continue as party president, but he refused. The meeting started at 11 am in which Rahul Gandhi, UPA (United Progressive Alliance) President Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as well as Ahmed Patel, P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot , Senior leaders like Jitin Prasad and Siddaramaiah were present.

This will be the final decision The Congress Working Committee i.e. CWC is divided into five groups to elect a new president. This group will talk to the state heads of the party, all departments of CLP, All India Congress Committee, state in-charge and MPs. And finally, on the basis of recommendations, the name of the new president will be stamped after common consent.

It may be noted that Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of Congress President after a crushing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections from BJP. After this, there was a man-to-man phase for about a month.
