The jealousy, drug usage, and new friendships that have already been made in Euphoria Season 2 are all further developed in Episode 4. While Jules finds solace in Elliot’s companionship and Rue is lost in her own world, Cassie finds it difficult to accept Nate and Maddy’s close proximity. The love montage and Cal’s confession to his family, in which he finally takes charge of his life and circumstances, were the episode’s high points. Episode 4 of Euphoria Season 2 drags and makes very little narrative progress. Even though it is aesthetically pleasing, the repeated repetition of the ideas and feelings that have previously been communicated to the audience loses its meaning.
You Who Cannot See, Think Of Those Who Can: Recap
Rue makes an effort to explain her inexplicable love for Jules. She embodied the idealised beauty depicted in paintings for generations. She and they were The Lovers by René Magritte, and he was Frida Kahlo. Their devotion was on par with that of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The legendary romance movies that make you envious of the otherworldly love are also mentioned in the love montage. Rue envisaged every eventuality of her love for Jules, from the Titanic to Brokeback Mountain. Although she had romantic images of them in her head, the truth was otherwise. Jules was impacted by the drugs and came to the conclusion that Rue might no longer be interested in her. Elliot and her grew closer as a result of her talking to him about her relationship issues.
Cassie, who was hosting Maddy’s birthday celebration, was ashamed in front of her friends when she discovered Nate had proposed to Maddy. Finally, Cal makes up his mind to go back to the gay bar where he once frequented with his former flame. He makes the decision to live a wild life without any ties to his family. Fez, on the other hand, is made aware of how Mouse’s mother questioned others.
Rue’s love for Jules was expertly shown in the love montage in Euphoria (S2E4). It is unique among television shows due to the innovative thinking process and the execution. Euphoria is special because of the visual exploration. High hopes have been placed in the series, particularly for the upcoming second season.
The Love Triangle: Are Nate And Maddy A Couple?
Nate told Cassie about his meeting with Maddy, and the two of them discussed their romance. Cassie was baffled as to why Nate desired a reconciliation with Maddy. She was going to put a halt to the two. She was aware of Maddy’s toxicity toward Nate. Despite her conflict of interest, she felt as though she was somehow aiding her best buddy. She wished to confront Maddy with the truth and put an end to any chance of reconciliation. She wanted to be evil and seek out devastation, but Maddy was too important to her for her to do so.
All the girls gathered to celebrate Maddy’s birthday at a party that Cassie hosted. Cassie waited for Nate to show up, but his presence only made her feel worse. She observed Nate present Maddy with a necklace. Nate was clearly attracted to Maddy, and Cassie realised she had no chance. She had to give up her affection for Maddy. Even if she told the truth, Maddy would break up with her. She would be shunned by her friends and left alone. She kept her truth hidden because she was afraid of being shunned. Nate observed Cassie dance alone in a room while she drank the night away. Cassie joined the group when they made the decision to take a hot bath. Maddy talked about their plans to calm down and improve on their relationship. She even told her friends everything Nate had said to show his love for her. Cassie became uncomfortable with this and puked in the bathtub. While Cassie was being brought by her mother inside her room, the pals sprinted out of the hot tub. As she was being hauled away, Cassie apologised to Nate.
Cassie adored Nate despite the fact that she did not comprehend what he desired. When Maddy mentioned how Nate wanted to get married to her and spend the rest of his life with her, she found it difficult to trust what she was hearing. Cassie apologised to Maddy and Nate repeatedly even after the awful hot tub event. She was unable to be the horrible person she imagined herself to be, so instead, she drowned her remorse in alcohol.
The Jules And Rue Argument
Elliot, Rue, and Jules stayed together the majority of the time. Jules and Elliot exchanged kisses with one another before Rue entered the bathroom to use the medicine. The three made the decision to take beverages from a department shop to spice up the evening. Rue waited in the car as Jules and Elliot grabbed the beers and fled the shop. Jules objected when she started drinking the beer in the car. She was worried that Rue would develop a drug or alcohol addiction. Rue went so far as to declare that she could not stand Jules and wished to be left alone, indicating that she was not prepared to listen to what she had to say. Rue got out of the car and started using narcotics in her bedroom.
Jules was devastated when she and Elliot arrived at Elliot’s house. She turned to Elliot for solace, but he insisted on telling her the whole story first. Rue was using various substances and was not in her right mind, he acknowledged; she was not sober. Because he too used drugs with her, he was aware of it. Rue had been deceiving Jules all along, leading her to feel that she was resolving her issue, and Jules felt duped. After learning the truth, Jules and Elliott did spend the night together. Rue removed drugs from the bag the drug dealer had given her so she could sell them.
Rue felt safe and content when she envisioned her father embracing her in her youth. She had an image of a church where the Lord’s melodies were performed. Rue bowed fully to the love of the Almighty as it called for. Her late father disagreed, but she still felt bad about herself for not being a good person. Rue was making an effort, and he was continuously keeping an eye on her. Labrinth joined Zendaya on-screen to perform the song “I’m Tired” in his moment.
Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4: Ending Did Cal Leave His Family?
We learned about Cal’s past in the third episode of Season 2. We discovered how and why he ended up in the predicament he is in right now. In this episode, Cal makes the decision to take charge of his life. He drives his truck around and drinks to his heart’s content. He want to go back to his better times. He carelessly drove and stopped at the old gay pub. He thought back on his younger years, his partner, and their private exchanges. He gave their seat on the stool a kiss. To the music, he danced. He thought the man who was hugging him was Derek. The man became perplexed when his eyes began to flutter. The stranger refused his demand that they wrestle. He forcedfully wrestled him before being expelled by bouncers. Derek felt closer to himself, his decisions, and his identity while being away. He no longer felt humiliated by himself.
He faced his family after going inside his home. He questioned his sons’ hypocrisy in not questioning him if he slept with a woman but feeling ashamed when he went out with somebody of a different gender. Everyone had secrets, he yelled, and no one’s secrets were better than anybody else’s. Disgracefully, his older son’s device had pornography, and his wife communicated with her college counsellor via social media and letters. He was no longer embarrassed by his secret. He was aware that he was sexist and a chaser, but he had no regrets. He kind of regretted Nate’s birth. He did not hate his kid, but he detested the idea that he had passed on to him all the negative traits that his father had taught him. He regretted that he was unable to stop the toxic masculinity loop. Cal believed that his family had bound him. Never permitted to vent his feelings, he was cornered. He could now finally enjoy his freedom. He took a picture of his family and left the house.
Cal came to terms with the idea that he was not an entirely decent person, that he had serious flaws, and that he was not at all what he had sought to project to his sons. He discovered new freedom in acceptance after letting go of the image, especially after learning that Nate was aware of his secrets.
While Euphoria Season 2 Episode 4’s use of film stock to convey the idea of revisiting memories is an amazing example of visual innovation, we anticipate the plot to move forward. We’ll wait until next Monday in the hopes that the future episodes will make the show much more interesting.
