Virata Parvam Plotline: What The Film Is About?
The novel takes place during a time when the Naxal movement was active and widely accepted in India’s southern region. States like Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have a long history of being involved in unrest, particularly between the years 1990 and 2000. During this time, Vennela, a young woman from a Telangana Rural hamlet in Andhra Pradesh, developed a passion for poetry. She discovers the poetry penned by the Naxalite leader Ravanna and develops a romantic interest in him. She breaks off her marriage and embarks on a journey to meet him. When she finally meets him after travelling through numerous communities, he rejects her. She joins his cause in order to stand by him and share his love of the revolution. Later, she is expelled as a traitor and killed as a result of some misunderstandings. They eventually learned that she wasn’t a traitor, though.
The Communist Party and Naxalites in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
It appears that both the communist party and the Naxalites oppose the police. These two parties have been engaged in ongoing guerilla combat since the 1970s. In Virata Parvam, the police were portrayed as a collection of individuals just in it for the money, while the communists and the Naxalites were portrayed as the radical band of Robin Hoods who looked out for and helped the less fortunate members of society. The cops killed numerous people in the 2000s through raids and fictitious encounters. They were instructed to execute any Naxalite on sight. During this time, there were many dishonest police officers who made their living by abusing the helpless and stealing their money. Every time they raided a village, they were held in terror. A campaign was started by several young people to oust the corrupt politicians, and it quickly acquired popularity and wide-spread public support. They protected the populace by punishing evil activities and offered financial and medical assistance. The youth of India had benefited greatly from education at this period, which had enabled them recognise the corrupt officials who posed a threat to society. The government in Andhra Pradesh was able to put an end to the movement in the late 2000s by recognising the demands of the populace and putting socioeconomic initiatives in place to improve society. Their strategies of Surrender and Rehabilitation to appeal to the masses were successful in dismantling the entire movement. The Naxalites put an end to the rebellion after achieving their goal.
The region of Andhra Pradesh that was affected by instability in the 1990s is the focus of Virata Parvam. There were fewer Naxalites, and those that were apprehended by the police broke down from the severe treatment they had to endure. Those who remained silent despite being tortured were brutally executed. Due to the overwhelming number of foes they were up against, the Naxalites tended to concentrate more on guerilla warfare. The police were unable to devise strategies to put an end to the civil war. Due to the fact that the Naxalites were primarily composed of youth embodiment, they were prepared with a variety of topographically advantageous plans to make up for their paucity of personnel. The state ultimately clarified the attacks and understood the base in discussions. The term Virata Parvam came about after they discovered how strongly reliant the Naxalites were on a tactic in which they planned and waited before attacking a base, akin to the attacks carried out by the Pandavas against the Kauravas. The leaders chose to arrange their offensive in a way that would sow seeds of uncertainty among the Naxalites and cause them to turn on one another. They use cunning tactics to gain access to the Naxalites’ core and incite conflict by pitting them against one another. In the ensuing confusion, Vennela is caught in the crossfire and charged with treachery. The act is already done, and Vennela is killed, before the telegram from the other heads informing them of the plot against them arrives.
Virata Parvam Ending Explained: What Happened To Vennela?
While Venella travels to be with her love, Virata Parvam closely follows her. Her love gives her the assurance and bravery to cross dangerous terrain to be with the one she loves. Vennela arrives at Ravanna with the help of some people she meets along the journey, but he rejects her and advises her to return to her village. Shakuntala Devi, the leader of the Communist party, thinks Vennela to be similar to her past and begs her to not fall down that rabbit hole like she did. Vennela’s love prevents her from giving up. Vennela is resolved to stand up for her love and support Ravanna’s cause, though. She decides to go along with Ravanna and join the revolution. For fear of entangling another person in the ongoing revolution, Ravanna rejects her, but Vennela convinces him otherwise. She falls victim to the enemy’s plans due to her naivete and determination to reach Ravanna, and as a result she is labelled a traitor.
The police are successful in sowing uncertainty among the group, and the colleagues, furious at Venella’s special treatment and praise for her quick thinking, grab the opportunity to support the warning they were given and vote to murder Vennela. The individuals she chose to fight against are the ones torturing her in exchange for information. They continued to harass her in vain and eventually turned to Ravanna for assistance. Ravanna then kills her because he believes she is a traitor and has taken advantage of his emotions to his advantage. He kills her out of sorrow for having loved her. The revelation that it was actually a plan where they would kill each other off while doubting themselves is revealed in the notification from the officials above them. After the incident in which the majority of their allies were slaughtered, they had developed paranoia, and it was simple to blame it on Vennela’s dubious outreach to Ravanna. Vennela was in the process of drawing her final breaths when they got their hands on this notice, and it was already too late. They lost a strong comrade as a result of the time of mistrust.
The character Thumu Sarala, on whom Virata Parvam is based, died in February 1992 as a result of the Naxals’ suspicion of her cooperation with the police. Many additional people perished in the crossfire between the two sides at this time, including Thumu. Sarala and Vennela joined the cause primarily as a result of the occurrences when the Dalits were beaten by the police because of their lower caste, which occurred both in real life and on screen. They begin to doubt the legitimacy of the aforementioned officials as a result, and they join the movement. This idea illustrates the hope that the lower classes felt and how the Naxal movement gained such momentum: the Naxals saved the state’s outcasts and the lower classes from the state’s atrocities. Virata Parvam illustrates this in the dialogues themselves, highlighting the underlying problems and aspirations of the lowest castes in society. The movie does a good job at capturing the feelings and the reenactment of history, folklore, and folk melodies. Although the scene where Vennela becomes a victim of the conspiracies is shot dexterously, the leaders had a lot of trouble when Sarala s death came to light. The video uses facts along with skillful storytelling to depict the struggles each segment of society faces.
